Overview
Just 45 minutes from the centre of Izmir, the day moves between two very different eras. It opens at the Key Museum, a private collection of cars and motorcycles spanning the 1890s to the present — a century of engineering in one hall.
From there you travel back to antiquity at Metropolis, whose name means ‘the mother city’. You take in the theatre, the bouleuterion and the panorama from the acropolis, and see one of the better-preserved Roman baths anywhere, with its hypocaust heating system and the city agora still clearly readable. The day closes with a tasting of the region’s wines at LA Vineyards.
