Overview
We drive to Sardis, the ancient capital of the Lydian Kingdom and one of the Seven Churches of Revelation. You explore the magnificent Temple of Artemis, later converted into a Byzantine church, the restored Gymnasium, and one of the largest ancient synagogues of the Roman world — a reflection of the importance of the Jewish community in Sardis.
The day then continues to the Sobran Vineyards in Alaşehir at the height of the grape harvest, where lunch in the vines is followed by a tasting of the region’s wines.
