Overview
A signature pilgrimage tracing the churches addressed in the Book of Revelation, from the Acropolis of Pergamon to the quiet ruins of Laodicea, with a licensed guide who walks you through the scripture and the history behind each site.
The standard programme runs 3 days and 2 nights from İzmir Airport. A 4-day version adds a full day in İzmir itself — ancient Smyrna, one of the seven churches — with its Agora site; tell us which suits your group.
Itinerary
- Day 1
İzmir · Pergamon & Thyatira
Meet at İzmir Airport and drive to Pergamon: the impressive Acropolis, the Altar of Zeus referred to as “the throne of Satan”, the Temple of Trajan, the third largest library of antiquity and the Red Basilica (St. John’s Church). Continue to Thyatira near Akhisar to see the remains of a basilica and Roman-period architectural fragments. Return to İzmir.
- Day 2
Sardis · Philadelphia & Pamukkale
An early drive to Sardis: the great temple later converted into a Byzantine church, the restored gymnasium and the synagogue. On to ancient Alaşehir (Philadelphia) — the remains of a brick-built Byzantine basilica with a high arch and 11th-century frescoes. Then to Denizli for Hierapolis at Pamukkale. Overnight in Pamukkale.
- Day 3
Laodicea & Ephesus
Laodicea, a crossroads of the ancient world beside Pamukkale, then on to Selçuk for Ephesus: the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the Theatre. Drop-off at İzmir Airport.
